— Tenna-as yemma-s nni : “Aya ɛemmers ad yili, s tidett imken wer yesbiḥ ca; maca ɣer-s ul d ameqqran! Issen mliḥ ad iɛumm: Wah, zemmreɣ ad iniɣ ila ḥsen qaɛ zeg inniḍen. Xseɣ ad iniɣ ila xmi i ɣa yemɣer ataf ad yili yekna ɛad. Minzi imken yeqqim aṭṭas di tmellalt, uca wer yelli ca yekna di temẓi-nnes ammu!.”

Ttuɣa ixeyyeq aṭṭas maḥend ad iɛawad marra misariya i x-as ikkin, merra min yeksi deg wul-nnes di tjerst-a iqesḥen.
Ila yennuɣmer deg ugelmam jar wezlaf, wami i d-tenqer tfukt, tebda tessekka-ḍ ṭṭya-nnes. Bdan iqubɛen ttcewciwen. Xenni i d-kumasant tfeswin.
Ijjen cwayt, yumen deg wafriwen-nnes, i ttuɣa ittferfiren di leɛwin s waṭṭas n jjehd, ttuɣa zemmren ad t-awyen mani mma. Al mani i yufa ixef-nnes deg ijjen tebḥirt n tteffaḥ, mani ccum-nnes ittic-d zi tseḍwin-a tizegzawin i yufuḥen. Ya cḥal i t-ttuɣa yecna wemkan-a wa! Yebda itterra nnefs n tfeswin!
Di tuɣbayt n ukeccud ffɣen-d tlata n yejḍaḍ n wardaf (cygnes), d icemlalen, knin.
Ttferfiren s wafriwen-nnsen deg waman. Yaẓiḍ n waman issen ijḍaḍ-a: uca yuɣ-it ijjen uxeyyeq.
« Xseɣ ad ten-afeɣ, ijḍaḍ-a igeldanen; ad ayi-yenɣen, mala zeɛmeɣ, nec i wer yeḥlin, a ɣer-sen adseɣ; maca jmanfu; llawemma ad ayi-nɣen ijjen twalat ula zeɛfen-ayi iyaẓiḍen n waman, ad ayi-ɛefsen iyaẓiḍen, ad ayi-tewseq txeddamt s iḍaren-nnes, niɣ ad kkerfseɣ di tejrest. »
Iraḥ ɣer waman, yefteḥ ar mani immelqa iradafen-a. Ẓrin-t ruḥen ɣer-s s wafriwen-nnsen. « Nɣet-ayi, » i dasen-yenna wejḍiḍ agellin; uca issidef azellif-nnes deg waman, yettraja lmewt.
Maca min yeẓra deg waman? Yeẓra ixef-nnes dag-sen: Wer t-ttuɣi ca ca n wejḍiḍ i wer yeḥlin, i yellan d anifasi ibberken, wer yeḥlin, iqelleɛ-d ul, netta s ixef-nnes ttuɣa-t d aradaf!
Luxa isḥussa s lefraḥet, yettu merra ifeqqusen i x-as ikkin d tamara i yemra; di twalat tamezwarut ad yaca aked ixef-nnes axmi d ijjen yili yessbeḥ, yeḥla. D iradafen-nniḍen ttɛumman ṭṭerf-nnes, sḥinniben-as s icenquben-nnsen.
Usin-d ca n iḥenjiren d imeẓẓyanen ɣer tebḥirt-nni, neṭṭren din aɣrum deg waman, d umaẓuẓ-nnsen isɣuyy: « aqqa-awen, win d jjdid da! » d iḥenjiren sɣuyyun s lefraḥet: « Wah, wah d tidett! ɛad din jjdid. » Ceṭṭḥen x ugeddim, ccaten tacerrift s ifassen-nnsen, xenni uzzlen ɣer baba-tsen d yemma-tsen, weyyen-d akid-sen aɣrum ḥuma a t-neḍren deg waman, qqaren merra : “wenn n jjdid yecna bezzaf! ɛad d ameẓẓyan! ya cḥal yesbeḥ!”.

Iwa, yuca s usedḥi, isnuffer ixef-nnes deg wafriwen-nnes; wer yessin mamec i ɣa yegg ad imsurruf, minzi ɣer-s netta aṭṭas n tumert. Maca ila wer iɛeffer ca aṭṭas. Ifekker di mamec i ttuɣa t-ḥeggren amenni, ttzawaren-t, tekkʷren-t, luxa ittesla-asen qqaren-as qa cek i yellan d ajḍiḍ i yeknin qaɛ! Uca tfukt tessek-d ṭṭya-nnes i yeḥman! Xenni bsissqen wafriwen-nnes, d yiri-nnes aceḍbi yuli deg ujenna, isɣuyy s jjehd; “Ɛemmers wer uciɣ s lefraḥet-a ta, d nnec i ttuɣa yellan ɣir d ijjen bu yaẓiḍ n waman d aɛeffan.”
